Diwali is a five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. During this festival, people light up their houses and shops. They worship Lord Ganesha for good welfare and prosperity and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and wisdom. Diwali festival takes place on Kartik Amavasya (New Moon Day) which is the darkest night at the end of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin and the start of the month of Kartika.  Diwali is one of the biggest shopping seasons in India; people buy gifts for family members and friends, which typically include sweets, dry fruits, and seasonal specialties depending on regional harvest and customs.

Wishing all of our friends and colleagues in India a very ‘Happy Diwali’.
