MALDIVES ….TOP OF THE BUCKET LIST?
Think desert island and barefoot paradise. Over 1000 tiny coral atolls make up the Maldives, with secluded island resorts and castaway retreats. Ideal for diving, the clear water is home to 3/4 of the world’s reef fish species. Add seamless service, excellent watersports and a truly romantic feel and you’ve got the perfect tropical escape.
Beaches: With some of the world’s finest deserted beaches, white sand and the brilliant blue Indian Ocean are the norm for every island resort; a picture postcard view not to be taken for granted, with crystal clear lagoons teeming with tropical fish.
Sports: A haven for snorkelling and diving, the Indian Ocean is filled with multi-coloured fish and coral. The islands are a surf hotspot, along with kite surfing, sailing and canoeing.
Cuisine: Most of the food in the Maldives is imported, so there’s something to suit all tastes. The locals enjoy fish curry or soup with a hot spicy kick; meat is saved for special occasions. Finger food is popular, including chilli coated fish pieces; battered fish rolls and curried vegetable samosas.
Evening Entertainment: Most of the larger resorts offer live music, Maldivian dancing, folklore shows, fire dancers and even crab racing. Many people simply prefer to spend the evening relaxing with a cocktail, while watching the sunset.
Getting To The Islands: The airport transfers are truly part of the excitement of a holiday to the Maldives, whether by traditional dhoni, speedboat or seaplane. Of course, seaplanes offer the best views of the coral atolls and are a perfect way to begin/ end your trip.
When To Go: The Maldives are great year-round, with December to April a particularly popular time.,
