SINGAPORE …YOUR GATEWAY TO ASIA

What’s in a name?

Singapore is often referred to as the “Lion City” or “Garden City”. The former name is derived from ‘Singa Pura’ (which means Lion City) and the latter for its many parks and tree-lined streets.  The city has also been dubbed “Instant Asia” because it offers tourists a glimpse into the many cultures brought by immigrants from other parts of Asia.

It is possible to cover Singapore in a few days?  The answer is ‘Yes’.  2 days in Singapore can be a fantastic experience, allowing you to explore the city’s rich culture, vibrant neighbourhoods, and unique attractions.  Here’s a suggested itinerary to make the most of your short (but sweet) visit:

Day 1: Exploring the City

Morning:

Breakfast at a Hawker Centre: Start your day with a local breakfast at a hawker centre, like Maxwell Food Centre or Tiong Bahru Market. Try local dishes like Hainanese chicken rice or roti prata.

Gardens by the Bay: Visit this iconic garden featuring the Supertree Grove and Cloud Forest. The gardens are beautiful in the morning light.

Afternoon:
Marina Bay Sands: Head to Marina Bay Sands and take in the panoramic views of the city from the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck. You can also explore the shopping mall and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants.

Merlion Park: Stroll over to Merlion Park, a truly iconic Singaporean symbol. Here you can take photos with the famous Merlion statue and enjoy the waterfront view.

Evening:
Chinatown: Explore Chinatown and visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant or hawker stall in the area.

Night Safari: If you’re interested in wildlife, consider visiting the Singapore Night Safari, which opens in the evening. It’s a unique experience to see nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.

Day 2: Cultural Immersion

Morning:

Kampong Glam: Start your day in the historic Kampong Glam district. Visit the Sultan Mosque and explore the colourful streets filled with shops and cafes.

Haji Lane: Stroll along Haji Lane, known for its vibrant street art and boutique shops. It’s a great place for shopping and taking photos.

Afternoon:

Sentosa Island: Spend the afternoon on tourist hotspot ….known as Sentosa Island. You can take the cable car from HarbourFront and enjoy attractions like Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, or simply relax on the beach.

Evening:

Clarke Quay: In the evening, head to Clarke Quay, a riverside dining and entertainment area. Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants and take a leisurely walk along the Singapore River.

Nightlife: If you’re interested in nightlife, consider visiting one of the city’s rooftop bars, like 1-Altitude or Ce La Vi, for stunning views of the city skyline.
