Meet The Team
Countries Visited:
More than 80 countries, with many of them visited multiple times. Including most of Europe, Asia, North America and the Caribbean. Still a lot to see in South America and Africa.
Unusual Travel Experiences:
Finding a rat in his suitcase in a hotel in Koh Samui, having police sniffer dogs drooling over his rucksack on the Thai / Malaysia border due to left over pizza inside, getting hosed down by the police for trying to sleep in Athens main railway station, losing his bank card in the cash machine in Istanbul and having no money at all on day one of a business trip (had to borrow from a hotelier) and…. many more stories to tell.
Favourite Place:
Too many to mention. There’s often a good reason for liking or disliking a place!
Most Embarrassing Travel Experience:
Waking up at the time of departure for a flight from Nashville to Atlanta!
One Luxury When You Travel:
Music and headphones. Helps to cut out the noise from annoying people on flights.
Best Travel Advice:
Always book the aisle seat when flying. There’s nothing worse than having to bother person next to you each time you want to get up! And always get on the plane last….allowing you to potentially spot better available seats!
Outside Of Travel:
Family man, dog lover and a long time season ticket holder of AFC Wimbledon (the real Dons!).
Last Holiday:
Maldives.
Next Planned Holiday:
France
Countries Visited in 2024: 12
Belgium, Denmark, Indonesia, India, Ireland, France, Germany, Maldives, Netherlands, Qatar, Scotland & UAE.
Countries Visited:
Over 30 countries visited and some of them multiple times.
Unusual Travel Experiences:
My Airbnb in Toronto being cancelled …..on the day of arrival!
Favourite Place:
I have a few but if I have to name one then I’d say Sicily. I went on on a road trip around Sicily a few years ago and this has to be one of my all time favourite holidays.
Embarrassing Travel Experience:
I’ve had a few funny mistranslation moments whilst travelling…and some particularly embarrassing! The latest one was when my name was called out over the loud tannoy at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to ask me to remove ‘something’ vibrating in my suitcase. I promptly removed my toothbrush!
Luxury Travel Item:
A good coffee and a great book always help when travelling.
Best Travel Advice:
Don’t overpack! I have done it too many times and you end up not using many items.
Outside Of Travel:
I love to spend time with family and friends. I am also a coffee addict, bookworm, fashion lover, and very passionate about politics / public affairs.
Last Holiday:
Maldives!
Next Planned Holiday:
Lille….back home.
Countries Visited in 2024: 9
Bahrain, Belgium, France, Germany, Indonesia, Maldives, Netherlands, Singapore & Sri Lanka.
Countries Visited: 57
Unusual Travel Experiences:
Travelling across Mongolia on horseback sitting on a wooden saddle! The incredible landscapes just about made up for the bruised and battered derriere…
Favourite Place:
Soaking in the bath, listening to tropical rain and good tunes.
Embarrassing Travel Experience:
Getting a haircut whilst living in China. My Mandarin was particularly inadequate at that stage, so instead of asking the hairdresser to take off an inch of the fringe, I apparently instructed her to cut it to an inch long. Cue weeks of being openly laughed at by my fellow foreign students and a great deal of puzzlement / scrutiny from the locals.
Luxury Travel Item:
Decaf tea bags. Great for when you just have to have a cuppa, but don’t want to be up twitching all night, especially after a long haul flight. And very importantly… my own pillowcase.
Best Travel Advice:
Leave with plenty of time to arrive at the airport/train station/ferry terminal early, so that you can arrive totally un-stressed and have a smug glass of something in your bonus time.
Outside Of Travel:
Travelling. Singing, wherever, whenever I can; famous for magnificent karaoke microphone swinging displays, exceedingly frumpy choir outfits and rocket fuel hip flasks. Seeing friends and family, going to the theatre/cinema/concerts. Visits the gym regularly (under duress… due to peer pressure and a profound enjoyment of eating)…
Last Holiday:
Winter sun in Alicante, Spain.
Next Planned Holiday:
The US to invade the in-laws and get in some Boston Red Sox action.
Countries Visited in 2024: 9
USA, France, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Poland, Wales & Scotland!
Countries Visited:
Over 30 countries visited and some of them multiple times.
Unusual Travel Experiences:
Her whole life is a bit unusual. The list is too long, but probably the contrast of her backpacking experience in South East Asia (where she had to sleep in a room with 50 bunk beds and a couple of cockroaches) to later on experiencing the luxury life of sleeping in water villas in 5* resorts in the Maldives.
Favourite Place:
Anywhere near the beach and sun! Forever favourites to include: Barcelona, Prague, Bali and London.
Embarrassing Travel Experience:
She also has too many to mention, as she always wants to try new things (which is not always a good idea!). The first thing that popped into her mind when asked was a rather embarrassing story from the jungle in Thailand, near Chiang Mai. She will only tell you in person!
Luxury Travel Item:
Soundproof headphones, nice book and thermo bottle to fill it up with water! She drinks a loooooot of water!
Best Travel Advice:
You really don’t need all your clothes and shoes with you.Alway mix & match and pack light!
Outside Of Travel:
Tereza loves to live a healthy and balanced life. Happy body and mind! She keeps active, escapes to nature, cuddles her dog, chills at home with scented candles, spends time with her friends and goes to see live music.
Last Holiday:
Camino De Santiago in Spain.
Next Planned Holiday:
Barcelona!
Countries Visited in 2024: 7
Germany, Hungary, India, Poland, Slovakia, Spain & Turkey.
Countries Visited:
Many countries! I even took a year out post college to tour and work in both Australia and New Zealand.
Unusual Travel Experiences:
It has to be grape picking in Australia and coming across a very dangerous spider on a bunch of grapes!
Favourite Place:
The Maldives …. nothing more to say!
Embarrassing Travel Experience:
Never had one and hope that will remain the way… forever more.
Luxury Travel Item:
Has to be a hairdryer. I absolutely hate those low powered hairdryers provided by hotels and especially the ones stuck on the bathroom wall.
Best Travel Advice:
It’s best to pre book and even pre pay for specific seats on flights. By doing this, you know that you will get your preferred seat location and not have the stress of wondering who will be wedged between you and your fellow travellers.
Outside Of Travel:
The children (2 teenage girls) and our lovely cocker spaniel are my main focus outside of travel. Other than that, I enjoy photography, walking, talking …and watching Netflix!
